Kids in the Market
The Ada Farmers Market encourages the whole family to come to market – especially the kids! It can be a wonderful chance for children to learn about where their food comes from and the people who grow it. They always have so many questions!! Why does this carrot have dirt on it? What does that taste like? How many bees made that honey?
To keep them entertained after all those questions, we include a special place just for them, where they can enjoy activities designed to make their experience at the market interesting and fun. As an example, below are some of the activities kids have enjoyed in previous visits:
- learning about bees and their contribution to farming (with observable hive!)
- vegetable prints
- fun with balloons
- yoga for Moms, Dads, Grandparents and kids
- origami
- vegetable hunt
- face painting
…and more!
Come to the market and see what’s new in the kids booth each week. Activities are posted on the sandwich board just outside the booth.
If you know of someone who would be interested in helping out during these weeks, please email us at adafarmersmarket@gmail.com.
